PRE-CONFERENCE

Reimagining Recruitment – Evidence-Based Hiring Practices for International Schools

This one-day pre-conference workshop is designed for international school leaders and leadership team members involved in teacher recruitment. It offers a practical, forward-thinking introduction to building recruitment systems that are aligned to the expectations and direction of your school. Participants will explore how to gather and evaluate authentic evidence of teaching quality, reduce bias in hiring, and design equitable, transparent processes. By critically examining current practices and engaging with tools and strategies that promote fairness and rigor, participants will leave with a clearer vision and actionable steps for implementing innovative, standards-aligned hiring in their schools.

Workshop Goals:

  • To understand how standards of teaching practice can anchor recruitment decisions.

  • To explore diverse evidence sources (e.g., lesson plans, student work, teacher reflections) in assessing teaching quality.

  • To identify and mitigate common biases in the hiring process.

  • To craft interview questions and reference tools that generate meaningful, standards-based insights.

  • To begin designing a collaborative, evidence-informed, and equity-focused recruitment system.
