Dr. Kathy Salmon

Dr. Kathy Salmon began Aspire Education Consulting upon her retirement as a school principal from the Calgary Board of Education, where she served for 23 years. Her roles included principal at four schools, assistant principal at three schools, System Assistant Principal Corporate Partnerships, ESL specialist, ESL Learning Leader, and teacher. She was also seconded twice to Alberta Education as an ESL Curriculum Manager, where she co-wrote the EAL Proficiency Benchmarks 1.0 and 2.0 and developed numerous resources for the Supporting English Language Learners website.
In her consultancy work, Dr Salmon has supported schools and organizations worldwide, including CIS Phnom Penh, The International School Macao, Britannia International School Guangzhou, CIS Guangzhou, CIS Foshan, Canadian Rockies School Division, Grasslands School Division, Christ the Redeemer School Division, and the Alberta Professional Learning Consortia. She takes a hands-on approach to helping school leadership build the human architecture and protocols necessary for effective learning environments that support diverse learners. Her expertise includes EAL, literacy, and integrating oracy into content-area learning. Her dissertation, Effective Teaching Practices for English as an Additional Language Learners in Alberta, Canada, reflects her deep commitment to enhancing educational practices for multilingual students.
