Leading our Communities in Designing Intentional and Focused Actions

This is a 2.5hr Deep Dive Workshop

This session is designed for school leaders and DEIJ leaders in schools who are beginning or continuing their journey in leading and engaging their communities in DEIJ work. This session will offer entry points to the work and respond to the question, where do we begin?

  • What are the focused equity outcomes we need to develop for our schools?
  • What strategies are essential in leading and designing for equity?
  • How might our leadership be a barrier or enabler for equity and inclusion transformation?
  • How can leaders co-create intentions and action for DEIJ at schools with an “unyielding focus on outcomes”? (Zheng)
  • How do we design for a collaborative and participatory DEIJ action in our communities?

We will explore leadership competencies, principles, and frameworks that enable leaders to design a participatory and impactful process aimed at engaging our communities. School leaders will understand what it means to enable and empower DEIJ practitioners at school, ensuring they have the positional and influential leadership, as well as time, accountability agency, autonomy to lead and enact change. We will explore ways we can establish a diversely representative humanizing and agentic organizing system where we can co-create actions as a community grounded on our community’s data.
